Part 1 – How to become an achievement hunter

(Part 2)

If you are reading this article, probably you enjoy achievements at least a tiny bit. Probably you already felt an itch to go on and buy the addons for your favorite outfit or the taming item for that special mount you don’t have or even bothered some friends to complete an unknown quest with a bad reward, just for the sake of completing it. All of those examples, my friend, are clear symptoms that you are a potential achievement hunter! Here, we’ll give a few tips on how to organize yourself in your achievement’s endeavor!

Part 1 will offer some general guidelines and tips, while part 2 will take a deeper dive into more specific categories.

Always remember: going after achievements is a marathon, not a sprint! If you are organized and keep your goals in sight, eventually I’ll go up in the rankings.

I am lost, help me!

First of all,  it is almost impossible that you are considering a character from level 8 with zero achievement points to follow this guide. With that in mind, the first thing to do is to know which achievements you have and which you don’t. This is the most important part to begin prioritizing what your next steps should be.

As usual, this is not an easy task and it is highly dependent on some specific traits of both the person and the character in question. Most achievement hunters keep track of their progress in a spreadsheet (Google sheets, Excel file, etc) or even a document editor (Google  Docs, Word file, etc).

We highly recommend that you have your own way of tracking your progress, but since this article is meant for everyone, we’ll take advantage of a free tool from Tibiadraptor.com, especially if you are not into sheets. They are a supported fansite, but please, be aware that this is not our tool, so use it at your own risk. We are also providing a spreadsheet with our own categorization if you prefer. Anyway, we will start from how to do your listing!

Achievements Tracker

List them out!

I hate to be this guy, but this step will probably take a while. Yes, I mean you’ll have to go literally through all your achievements and mark them as completed or not. If this brings any comfort, you’ll probably only have to do that only once in your life, especially using an online tool like the one from TibiaDraptor. Of course there are some different ways of doing so, but we are going to explain 2 methods below.

Tibia.com achievements page

The first is by using your Tibia.com “My Account” section. Using this method, you will have to sort the achievements in Grades in TibiaDraptor or in your spreadsheet because the website doesn’t allow you to ignore it. Below there is a screenshot of how to do it:

Be aware that the achievements page is account-bound and not character-bound. For example, if you have more than one character with mutually exclusive achievements (one character with blue djinn and another with green) or even if you have completed The Pits of Inferno Quest with only one character, the corresponding achievement will be shown for all. The character used in this example only has Blue Djinn (which grants the Marid Ally achievement), but the same account has another character with Green Djinn. Both of them are marked in the page:

Mutually exclusive achievements

The second method is way easier if you have 2 screens. Go to your tibia client and then to Cyclopedia > Character >Achievements. I would personally recommend ignoring completely the achievement grades and sorting them alphabetically. Basically, they don’t represent anything in today’s Tibia (and this will probably be a topic for a future article, keep your eyes open!).

Same as in the other method, you’ll have to check one by one the achievements you have or not. In the end, check if the overall points and numbers match, like shown below:

Cyclopedia’s achivements page

Using either one of the methods, or organization method, the goal of this first part is having a listing of achievements that you have or not. If you have used the TibiaDraptor, export the file and you’ll have something like this:

Example of a filled spreadsheet with the achievements

That was annoying… Now what?

Sorry for all the trouble, but hey, being an achievement hunter is a tough job! Now you’ve got a much better glimpse on what you already have and what you don’t. Now it is time to trim this down into feasible actions.

Regardless of the spreadsheet you used, if you inspect closely, you will notice a column called “type” or “Category” This is an unofficial way of sorting the achievements into different categories and is highly personal. Both our and TibiaDraptor’s spreadsheets provide good classifications, but of course it won’t be a perfect fit for all characters. There are several types of classifications and they often overlap, depending on how you look at each achievement.

However, it is undeniable that there are some large pools of points that shouldn’t be looked over. For this reason, in this first part we’ll suggest a way of prioritizing the most important pools of points and then we’ll take a deeper dive in each of those categories in part 2. Below you’ll find a list (in order of suggested importance) the categories:

  1. Events
  2. World Changes
  3. Quests (to be broken down)
  4. Miscellaneous (to be broken down)
  5. Outfits and Mounts
  6. Bestiary and Hunting Tasks
  7. Umbral

Keep in mind that by no means you should conclude one category before moving to the other! You must go over your list, make some notes and decide which easy quests you can go over, what cheap crafting achievements you left behind and so on.

Also if you are confused about the on the spreadsheet, here is a small template on how to relate our division and TibiaDraptor’s one (also a sneak peak for part 2):

After you have inspected and contemplated your listing a little bit, stay tuned for Part 2 of this article!
